Memory and learning are so closely connected that people often confuse them with each other. But the specialists who study them consider them two distinct phenomena. The Bezos Scholars Program deadline is February 18

Every spring, 30 top high school students and exceptional educators from across the U.S. and Africa are selected to participate in this year-long leadership development program.

The program kicks off with an all-expenses-paid scholarship to attend the acclaimed Aspen Ideas Festival (AIF), a remarkable gathering of thinkers and change agents from around the world. Throughout the academic year, Scholars participate in virtual Bezos Scholars Program trainings and are invited to apply for a $1,000 seed grant to design and implement their Local Ideas Festival.

The Bezos Scholars Program is “incubating big ideas and model citizens—one high school at a time.” 

2014 C-SPAN StudentCam Competition deadline is January 20

StudentCam is an annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation, sponsored by C-SPAN. The StudentCam theme for 2014 is:  “A Message to the U.S. Congress: What’s the most important issue the U.S. Congress should consider in 2014?”

Maximum award: $5,000, plus $750 to spend on digital video equipment for his/her school. Eligibility: students grades 6-12, individually or in teams.

Delaware high school seniors can apply now for 1 of 50 Diamond State Scholarships

The Diamond State Scholarship is a merit-based award for graduating high school seniors enrolling at regionally accredited colleges in the U.S.

Applicants must be:

  • Legal residents of Delaware
  • U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens
  • High school seniors who rank in upper quarter of class
  • Combined score of at least 1800 on the SAT
  • Enrolled as a full-time student in a degree program at a nonprofit, regionally accredited institution

Maximum Amount: $1,250
