Tutor Spotlight on world languages tutor on Nancy Hufnal

We would like to introduce you to Nancy Hufnal, a Delaware Certified Teacher of World Languages. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Spanish from Temple University. A native of Delaware, she began teaching at Back to Basics in 2010.

Nancy uses her free time to take ballroom dancing lessons and play tennis. She has five grown children; one is a tennis pro, one works for Google, another works for Microsoft and yet another works for Yahoo. As if Nancy weren’t busy enough, she reads from 3-4 books a day.…

Our May tutor spotlight is on Jill Querey. Jill instructs our younger students, grades 1-4, in basic math, language arts, phonics, readiness, reading, social studies, spelling and writing. She also tutors English for grades 5-8 and is certified in Reading Assist.

Jill is a native of Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Delaware. She and her husband have 2 children, a boy and a girl, who keep them very busy. March’s tutor spotlight shines on Mike Cronin. Mike’s areas of instruction focus mainly on the maths and sciences. They include algebra I & II, basic math, biology, chemistry, general science, integrated math I & II, life science, pre-algebra, and trigonometry, as well as organizational skills and time management. Mike tutors these subjects for 6th grade through adults for Back to Basics.

Sally Rusk is in our tutor spotlight for November. She is DE certified in elementary education. Sally’s subject matter includes basic math, communication, environmental science, general science, grammar, journalism, language arts, phonics, pre-alebra, readiness, reading, Reading Assist, video production and writing.

Having dual careers in teaching and video production allows Sally to do something very interesting. She sometimes works as an On-Set teacher. This means she provides education to child actors on movie sets who can not attend their regular schools due to filming schedules.

August’s spotlight shines on tutor Julie Nichols. Julie has been part of the Back to Basics team for over two years. She is certified in elementary education. Julie’s subject matter includes adult literacy, basic math, ESL, general science, geography, history, phonics, reading, social studies, vocabulary and writing. She also instructs students in the verbal portion of the high school entrance, Praxis, and SAT exams. Julie is certified in the Orton-Gillingham and Wilson reading programs.
