The Eighth Annual Conference on Education, Moving Education in Delaware Forward, will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Clayton Hall in Newark, Delaware.
With the recent release of the Student Success 2025 plan, this year’s conference will be a critical opportunity to dig deeper into the recommendations in the plan, and discuss how we can work together to make these recommendations a reality. The statewide assessment results recently released provide a snapshot of how Delaware students are performing in English language arts and mathematics. The results are the first ever scores for the Smarter Balanced Assessment test, which is aligned with the Common Core standards.
Statewide, only slightly more than half of students in third through eighth grades and in grade 11 were “proficient’ or better in English. In math, just under 39 percent were statewide.

National Punctuation Day is a day set aside to honor the proper use of punctuation marks. Founded by Jeff Rubin in 2004, National Punctuation Day promotes the correct usage of punctuation and is sure to make Language Arts teachers happy!

Back to Basics employs translators in 16 languages, all of whom are experienced professionals holding Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degrees. Translators are selected for each assignment based on a client’s expressed need, goals and schedules.

The Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award recognizes service-learning programs and projects that demonstrate outstanding youth leadership. This award focuses on projects that show a high level of youth initiative in all areas including identifying an authentic need, planning the service, and putting that plan into action. Teams of young people participating in service-learning projects can apply. The deadline is December 4.
