reading helpThe Eighth Annual Conference on Education, Moving Education in Delaware Forward, will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Clayton Hall in Newark, Delaware.

With the recent release of the Student Success 2025 plan, this year’s conference will be a critical opportunity to dig deeper into the recommendations in the plan, and discuss how we can work together to make these recommendations a reality. The conference will focus on building on what works in each of the six core areas and collaboratively discussing how to continue progress.

What do the new Smarter Balanced State Assessment results mean for Delaware students?

delaware educationThe statewide assessment results recently released provide a snapshot of how Delaware students are performing in English language arts and mathematics. The results are the first ever scores for the Smarter Balanced Assessment test, which is aligned with the Common Core standards.

Statewide, only  slightly more than half of students in third through eighth grades and in grade 11 were “proficient’ or better in English. In math, just under 39 percent were statewide.

The Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award is now accepting applications

YSA logoThe Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award recognizes service-learning programs and projects that demonstrate outstanding youth leadership. This award focuses on projects that show a high level of youth initiative in all areas including identifying an authentic need, planning the service, and putting that plan into action. Teams of young people participating in service-learning projects can apply. The deadline is December 4.
