Tutor Spotlight of the Month: Back to Basics Learning Dynamics’ elementary education tutor Martha Darsney

July’s tutor spotlight is on Martha Darsney. Martha is a tutor for younger students, teaching grammar, math, phonics, prealgebra, special ed and writing. She also is one of our Title I teachers. She is certified for K-8.

Martha was born and raised in Massachusetts. She served as a math curriculum specialist and a 4th grade teacher there. She and her husband have lived in Delaware for the past three years.

Race to the Top plans approved for all 19 Delaware school districts

Last month, Race to the Top plans were approved for all 19 Delaware school districts by Secretary of Education Lillian Lowery. These plans were the result of a year-long effort by individuals of various sectors of each district. As a joint committee, each group identified and analyzed challenges facing each district then developed ways to meet them. The plans, while staying in line with the state’s goal, addressed the specific needs of each district as well.
