Special Education Day was created to honor progress and celebrate students with disabilities and their teachers, parents, and schools. And, Special Education Day marks the anniversary of the nation’s first federal special education law, which was signed into law by President Gerald Ford on December 2, 1975.
We have come a long way since 1975. Today, access to education is available for all children, including children with disabilities.
