Now that the school year is in full swing, have you noticed any changes in your child’s performance or attitude? Have there been frequent stomach aches, complaining and not wanting to go to school? Perhaps he is struggling in a subject, with paying attention or is just overwhelmed?

Early intervention in all of these cases is the key to success for your child! Dealing with these problems now — while they are relatively small — gives you the time and resources to tackle them head on, before they become crises.

The first place to start is with a parent/teacher conference. Tell the teacher what you see at home and ask what she sees in the classroom.

•             Has participation dropped off?

•             Is my child sitting with different kids? Who is he hanging out with?

•             Is my child just tired and bored, or is he overwhelmed by the work?

•             Have you seen a change in his attitude or performance? How would you describe that change?

Ask about the resources available at the school and take advantage of them. If there is still no improvement, consider tutoring. Back to Basics Learning Dynamics offers 1-on-1 instruction in over 60 subjects ranging from Preschool Readiness to Italian, to Trigonometry, to Biology and many more. Our tutors are degreed, qualified and experienced teaching professionals who are able to motivate students aged 3-103 to learn and inspire them to achieve.
