Back to Basics offers classes and workshops throughout the year in addition to the individual tutoring which
is offered for remedial, enrichment or maintenance needs.
We limit the enrollment for workshops so students get the attention they need. Be sure to sign up early
because sometimes the classes and workshops sell out.
Check back often because we frequently add classes and workshops to the schedule.

just fill-out the form, list your selected classes, and e-mail it to us to reserve a spot in a class.
Save two print-outs of your registration e-mail: keep one copy for yourself and send the other copy to us
with your payment. Full payment is due 10 days before the start date of the course. Our receipt of your

Mathercise
Why do KIPP and Asian schools produce higher math scores than traditional American schools?
According to Malcolm Gladwell's book, "Outliers" it is not because the
KIPP or Asian students learn more from September to May, it is because
they regress less from June-August.
In this exciting new workshop, students in grades 8-10 will:
Have fun with numbers
Improve problem-solving skills
Refresh/reinforce computational basics before school starts
Gain confidence in their math ability
Experience how mathematicians really work
Take home brain-teasers to stump the family
Join us for puzzles, games and competitions which will test logic and problem-solving skills. The students work together, helping each other brainstorm ideas and then test their approach.
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00 – 8:00PM
1st session : 7/13, 7/15, 7/20, 7/22 & 7/27
2nd session: 8/3, 8/5, 8/10, 8/12 & 8/17

Study Skills Workshops
Learn time management, goal setting, learning styles, organization, note taking, outlining, reading for meaning, memory techniques, test-taking strategies, and test preparation. This small group workshop helps students study efficiently and effectively during the school year.

SAT Preparation
PREP FOR OCTOBER 2010 SAT TEST
Back to Basics is offering preparation courses to juniors nad seniors to help them achieve their best performance on the SAT. Inthese comprehensive courses, students will learn strategies, timing techniques, and specific content. They will take and review several practice tests. Students will strengthen their knowledge of the overall test and scoring, plus gain confidence and reduce anxiety.
Session I-August 24-October 7, 2010
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00-8:00pm
Session II-August 21-October 6, 2010
Saturdays 10:00am-12:00pm and Wednesdays 6:00-8:00pm
28 hours of instruction $749.00
Includes SAT Preparation book and notebook.

Summer Reading List
One-on-One Instruction
Do you spend your summer reminding your student to finish his/her required summer reading? If so, let Back to Basics help. Our experienced instructors will work one-on-one with your student to read, comprehend and retain his/her summer material. These sessions will give them the knowledge and confidence to carry out the required assignments related to reading, such as reports, projects and tests.

Summer Math program
One-on-One Instruction
Summer is the perfect time to build and strengthen mathematics skills for the upcoming school year. Your student will work one-on-one with an experienced instructor to review and learn concepts and create fun ways to remember them. Each session is tailored to the individual student to meet his/her needs, interests, level of background knowledge and learning style. Homework will be given to reinforce the material learned during these interactive sessions.
