Both of these activities allow her to take off her "administrator's hat" and get personally involved with the children, thereby reinforcing her dedication to providing quality education. As a founding Board Member of the Wilmington Women in Business Foundation, Inc., and now Director Emeritus, Stewart helps this charitable foundation award Fresh Start Scholarships to women seeking to improve their lifestyles and opportunities by returning to school. She has also taken the initiative to create a special Back to Basics Scholarship for Teacher Education which is awarded annually to deserving young women from around the state.
