Learning to give back to the local community at Back to Basics K-12 Private School

Community service is an important part of every young person’s education. So, at Back to Basics K-12 Private School, we work volunteerism into our curriculum. This gives our students a better appreciation of the power that one person has to affect change!

Recently, our students went to the Delaware Center for Horticulture, where carving pumpkins for visitors to enjoy was the volunteer effort of the day (community service doesn’t have to be all work!).

Pictured is 13-year-old Angel, who is a 7th grader at Back to Basics, along with Marcia Stephenson, volunteer coordinator for DCH.  The pumpkins will be used to decorate DCH for fall events and activities.
