Build a stronger family unit. Build a better community. November 17 is Family Volunteer Day!

Family Volunteer Day is November 17! A Points of Light signature day of service, Family Volunteer Day demonstrates and celebrates the power of families who volunteer together, supporting their neighborhoods, communities and the world.

For 22 years, Family Volunteer Day has been held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving to “kick-off” the holiday season with giving and service. This year, is being powered by generationOn and sponsored by Disney Friends For Change, a global initiative that inspires kids and families to take action to help people, communities and the planet.

Why is Family Volunteer Day so important? Family volunteering encourages the members of a family to volunteer as a unit. And, families engaged in service can help mobilize thousands of new volunteers and instill in the next generation a lifelong commitment to volunteering.
